Following his ~RM207 billion takeover of Twitter, Elon Musk has laid out several changes to be implemented in the social media platform, including paid account verification. Moreover, given his position on free speech and censorship in the past, many are also expecting Musk to reinstate banned users on Twitter but according to the man himself, this may not happen for at least the next few weeks.

As reported by Reuters, Musk said that banned accounts will not be allowed back onto Twitter until the company has “a clear process for doing so”. The new Twitter owner further revealed that such a process is currently in the works and would take at least a few more weeks to complete.

Musk's tweets came after he held a call with several civil rights organisations including Color of Change, the Anti-Defamation League and the NAACP on Tuesday (1 November 2022). During the call, the world’s richest man said that he is committed to upholding Twitter’s content moderation policies and enforcement around election integrity and creating a content moderation council composed of representatives with "widely divergent views."
