Google Stadia was announced a while back and it opened up doors for gamers who can’t keep upgrading their devices to support newer games. If you aren’t up to speed, Google Stadia allows users to play games on ANY device through remote connection. Essentially, you’re gaming on one of Google’s machines and streaming it to your own device. Some new information has been added onto the Google Stadia FAQ page recently, filling up some unanswered questions.

If you had pre-ordered the Founder’s edition of Google Stadia, the redemption code will be emailed to email you signed up with. However, the code can be redeemed on any other account, including your own personal Gmail account. The Founder’s edition costs USD$129 (~RM534) and comes bundled with a 3 month subscription Stadia Pro subscription, a buddy pass, a Chromecast Ultra, first dibs on your Stadia as well as a limited edition Stadia controller.

The Google Stadia controllers

For those wondering how the Stadia controller connects, it first connects to your device via Bluetooth LE to set up the device. Once the device has been set up, the controller then connects directly through WiFi. If you decide against purchasing the controller, you can still play games on Google Stadia with any HID compliant controllers connected to your devices via USB-C. Speaking of devices, Google Stadia will only be supported by tablets on Chrome OS and all Pixel 3 devices (Google Pixel 3, Google Pixel 3 XL, Google Pixel 3a and Google Pixel 3a XL) only.

Google Stadia is expected to launch in 14 countries this November. Unfortunately, Malaysia is not one the selected launch countries so it is not known when the Malaysia launch date will be. Also, it is said that 65 hours of gaming on Stadia can consume up to 1TB internet.  If Malaysia’s internet becomes stable enough to run Stadia, would you guys go for it?
