Some may find it silly at this point, but companies are continually pushing battery charging speeds to crazy levels. We've seen Xiaomi experiment with 100W fast-charging last year and Black Shark is working on that for its next flagship gaming phone. And now sources claim that we'll see actual products that support 100W fast-charging by Q1 2021.

According to Digital Chat Station, gaming phones that come with the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 875 chipset and 100W fast-charging could arrive as early as Q1 2021. Allegedly, four Chinese manufacturers are already testing this feature. We already know that Xiaomi and Black Shark are two of them, while the other two are probably OPPO and vivo.

In regards to the Snapdragon 875 chipset, it's said that Qualcomm's next flagship chipset could cost about USD 100 (~RM429) more than the Snapdragon 865 chipset. The bad news is that this would result in pricier flagship smartphones in 2021. On the flip side, it's supposed to run with a more powerful Cortex-X1 and three Cortex-A78 CPU cores, so it could be worth it if you care about getting the best performance.

Let's go back to the 100W fast-charging for a bit. While there may be instances you can benefit from juicing up your phone quickly, some may feel that 100W is overkill. Honestly, it depends on how you use your phone but what are your thoughts on it? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news like this.
