The Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have both been revealed finally, but in typical Apple style, they haven't revealed all of the tech specs and details yet. One of the main questions many of our readers and more tech spec inclined users would like to know is:
How much RAM and battery (mAh) does the Apple iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus have?
This question is especially relevant as it gives a better idea as to how the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones will perform along with how long they will last on a single charge. Check out our analysis below.
What Apple has told us
So far, Apple has revealed that both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will have the same Apple A8 processor. Sure, we know that it is 64-bit and is 25% faster than the A7 processor, which was used in the Apple iPhone 5S. The A8 graphics are also said to be 50% faster than that of the A7 but again, Apple have not revealed what GPU or chip they are using to power the graphics exactly yet either. Apple have also not revealed at what speed the A8 processor is clocked at.
For now, we know that the A8 chipset is fabricated using the 20nm fabrication process and that it has about 2 billion transistors, quite a lot more than the A7 which had more than 1 billion transistors annd was fabricated on a 28nm process. More transistors will usually mean an increase in both performance as well as heat, despite the better energy efficiency of the 20nm chipset. Will the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus run hot or warm because of this? What do you think?
Leaked information
As one of Apple's most leaked devices, the Apple iPhone 6 smartphones have even been benchmarked before their release. These leaked benchmarks reveal that the Apple iPhone 6 will likely have just 1GB of RAM which is still quite low, even for an optimized system like iOS. The good news is that the Apple iPhone 6 Plus could have 2GB of RAM, so if you're a performance junkie and an Apple fanboy, you should know which Apple iPhone 6 to pick when it comes out.
For the battery, Apple have said that the Apple iPhone 6 will last about 1 to 4 hours longer than the iPhone 5S indicating that the battery or mAh will be larger. Considering that the iPhone 5S only packs in a a non-removable 1560 mAh battery, we assume based on this increase that the iPhone 6 will pack in a battery about 1800 mAh or so. The larger iPhone 6 Plus is said to last a lot longer than either the iPhone 6 or iPhone 5S and we estimate the battery size to be around 2900 mAh based on the battery size of current 5.5-inch display tablets out there. We should not have to wait too long to find out for sure as the release date is expected on 19 September 2014, but for now, what do you think?
