Along with the new foldable Huawei Mate X smartphone, MateBook X Pro (2019) and MateBook 14, the company also showcased the Huawei 5G CPE Pro. As the name suggests, the 5G Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) Pro provides customers with 5G high-speed internet broadband and intelligent Dual-link features and it's powered by the Balong 5000 modem chipset that Huawei has been talking about before MWC 2019.

With the Balong 5000 modem chipset at hand, it's able to perform industry benchmarks download speeds. At Sub6 GHz, it can go up to 4.6Gbps, whereas a 4G network can achieve up to 1.6Gbps. That's over twice as fast and should the 5G connectivity weaken, the 5G CPE Pro will switch to 4G automatically to save time and keep the internet line stable. To add to that, WiFi 6 or 802.11ax is also supported and it can go up to 4.8GBps on WLAN. That's 15 times faster than WiFi 4 (802.11n; 2x2), the current one that we are using. It's also said that even an 8K video or Computer Graphics VR game is not a problem (but we shall see).

A single 5G can unite many different devices together

Besides that, Huawei also announced the Huawei HiLink, a smart home interconnection platform that works well with the 5G CPE Pro to connect to any network with just a click. This means it can connect to all types of smart devices and users do not need to get WiFi connection as it's compatible with WPS. Supporting both dual bands of 2.4GHz and 5GHz, it can intelligently identify nearby devices so say if you're nearer to it, you'll enjoy the 5GHz connectivity while the ones further away will be in the 2.4GHz channel.

No price or availability was announced, but we don't think we will be seeing those in Malaysia soon until we got 5G connectivity rolling. Perhaps the year 2020? Stay tuned for more Huawei news at TechNave.com.
