After the weekend Huawei Mate 20 series launch here in Malaysia, it appears that reception of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro has been exceptional globally as well as massive crowds converged in both Shanghai, China and Singapore. Reported by GizGuide and CNA Lifestyle, long lines and massive crowds weren’t just a thing here in Malaysia apparently, as crowds lined up from 6am (Malaysians started queuing from 1am) to pick up their pre-ordered devices or get a brand new Mate 20 or Mate 20 Pro smartphone. As for the rest of the world, the Philippines has started pre-orders for the Mate 20 series.

Packing in the new 7nm Kirin 980 chipset with Dual NPU (neural network processing unit), 40W super charging, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro offer up new LEICA powered Triple rear cameras with their Matrix Camera system. Consisting of a 40MP camera + 20MP ultra wide angle camera + 8MP OIS telephoto camera, this Matrix Camera system offers up more details with wider shots under both low-light and normal conditions. In addition, it can also take super macro shots as close as 2.5cm without having to add on an extra macro lens (we’re exploring this as we write this so stay tuned to TechNave.com for that).

In the meantime, global pricing for the Mate 20 series and other Huawei devices have been quite competitive as IDC reports that Huawei have overtaken Apple as the world’s second largest smartphone vendor (based on Q2 2018). Things look on the up and up for Huawei as the Mate 20 series could well become a global phenomenon (except for the poor souls in the US of course). For those of you who missed out on the weekend roadshows you can still book the Mate 20 or Mate 20 Pro at Huawei Flagship experience stores, the official online channels or chain outlets such as Sen Heng or Harvey Norman.
