On the third day of Apple Launch, Apple unveiled an all-new MacBook Neo. It is a fresh addition to the MacBook lineup designed to deliver the Mac experience at an accessible price point. MacBook Neo is positioned as Apple’s most affordable laptop offering to date, aimed at students, everyday users, and first-time Mac buyers. Here's what you need to know about it!
The MacBook Neo Tech Specs
One of the most surprising facts is that the MacBook Neo sports an A18 Pro chipset, a last-generation SoC from the iPhone predecessor. Despite a year old, it is still very powerful. Apple says the device offers up to 50% faster performance on everyday tasks and up to 3× faster performance on on-device AI workloads compared with the bestselling PCs using the latest Intel Core Ultra 5 chip. A5-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine help support graphics performance and Apple Intelligence features across applications.
On the front panel, a 13-inch Liquid Retina display is said to offer up to 1 billion colours. The durable aluminium enclosure is offered in four colours, which are blush, indigo, silver, and citrus, with matching Apple-designed aesthetics that make it both stylish and portable. MacBook Neo provides up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge, and it also includes a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, dual microphones with improved audio capture, and dual side-firing speakers with Spatial Audio support for an immersive multimedia experience.
macOS Tahoe and Productivity Tools
Running on macOS Tahoe, the MacBook Neo offers built-in productivity apps like Messages, Pages, Calendar, and Safari, along with deep integration with Apple Intelligence features. Continuity features allow seamless handoff and file sharing with iPhone and other Apple devices, while the Magic Keyboard and large Multi-Touch trackpad provide comfortable input and precise control.
Pricing, Availability, and Local Launch
The MacBook Neo starts at RM2499 in Malaysia, with an educational price of RM2099, making it the most affordable Mac laptop yet. The device supports Apple Trade In and optional AppleCare+ for extended service and support. Pre-orders are open now in selected countries and regions, but Malaysia is not part of the first wave.
