We've been seeing a few new Helio chipsets from MediaTek, but the company has been focusing mostly on its Dimensity series of chipsets. The latest one is the Dimensity 720, a new 5G chipset that we saw hints of with the OPPO A72 leak a few days ago. MediaTek has now launched this chipset, which will provide mid-range devices with 5G connectivity.

Built on the 7nm process, the Dimensity 720 chipset comes with an octa-core CPU, featuring two Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. It also has a Mali G57 (MC3) GPU core and has a fully integrated 5G modem, as well as support for faster LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. Besides that, it can also support screens with up to 90Hz refresh rate and camera sensors of up to 64MP.

In terms of features, this chipset features MediaTek's 5G UltraSave technology and MiraVision HDR10+. The first one is a power-saving feature that uses both network and content awareness intelligence to manage the 5G model in real-time, thereby extending battery life. As for the second one, it's a technology that improves video playback quality.

From what we can tell, smartphones with the Dimensity 720 will likely be affordable 5G devices with a focus on multimedia entertainment. With that said, what are your thoughts on MediaTek's new chipset? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news.
