Meta Verified service goes live in the US, provides blue verification marks for Facebook and Instagram

As you know, Twitter is the first company with the concept of verified social media accounts. Meta decided to jump on the bandwagon and started testing its Meta Verified in Australia and New Zealand last month. Now, the company is ready for the service to go live.

According to Engadget, Meta Verified is now officially available in the US. You'll receive a blue verification badge on your Instagram and Facebook accounts if successful. Interested users would have to pay USD 12/month (~RM54/month) via the web or USD 15/month (~RM72/month) via the iOS/Android app.

For comparison, Twitter Blue offers the blue check mark (among other features) for as low as RM30.75/month. That makes the Meta Verified service nearly double the cost, albeit for twice the number of accounts. Meta Verified also seems more secure since it requires users to provide their government ID, which would be the IC for us Malaysians. It also has some eligibility requirements, such as age and having two-factor authentication enabled.

Again, this service is only live in the US now, and we don't know if it'll make its way to Malaysia. But if it does, would you be willing to pay for it? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates.
