Reports on the next Apple smartphone has been rather mixed. News earlier on in March claimed that the iPhone 9 would be delayed, which sounded as if it could be months before we see it. However, a more recent rumour from an Apple insider suggested that it's coming soon.

According to Jon Prosser, an internal Apple meeting yesterday was held to determine the launch date for the iPhone 9. The date has been tentatively set for 15 April 2020, with devices starting to ship the following week on 22 April 2020. It's a surprise to hear that Apple is ready to launch the phone already, considering how everyone expected a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bear in mind that Jon Prosser did post his tweet 31 March 2020 (US time), so it's unlikely that this is an April Fool's joke. However, without an official announcement from Apple, we should still take it with a grain of salt. As a reminder, the iPhone 9 is expected to be a 4.7-inch device that will house Apple's A13 Bionic.
