Renowned YouTuber and smartphone tester, JerryRigEverything has returned again to test smartphones to the limits with his famous scratch, burn and bend tests. This time, his new victim will be the recently released OnePlus 5.

How did the OnePlus 5 fare? Take a look at the video and see for yourself.

That’s right, despite the low price tag, the OnePlus 5 managed to come out on top with a surprisingly good build. First of all, the scratch test showed that the device back, screen, fingerprint scanner and cameras are totally scratch-proof from normal items such as keys, coins and other sharp objects. Although this never stopped Jerry from taking it to the next level and managed to scribble notes on the OnePlus 5 but only with incredibly hard test-pens.

The OnePlus 5 performed extremely well in the burn test as it managed to last a whole 40 seconds against an open flame before a white line can be observed. So make sure if you drop it into a fire, rescue it in 40 seconds to preserve it, scot free! However, since the OnePlus 5 does come with a AMOLED screen, the white line from the fire will be permanent.

Last but not least, the grueling bend test. The test actually shocked us for a while because the OnePlus 5 screen actually popped out of the housing after a few seconds of bending. Luckily though, it shows that the screen is able to pop back into the housing, good as new.

Overall, it really shows how OnePlus really cared for their workmanship and build quality. The OnePlus 5 is indeed a solid phone and should not be underestimated from its bargain price tag.

We have yet to see an official Malaysian launch for the OnePlus 5 but do stay tuned to TechNave.com for the latest news and updates.
