ASUS Malaysia previewed the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 for us today confirming tech specs like a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, 5000 mAh battery, 6-inch Full HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio fullview display, dual 16MP rear cameras (the other is a Bokeh sensor) and ASUS's first stock Android 8.1 smartphone. ZenUI has been removed completely with certain additional apps like Snapdragon Camera. While ASUS's track record for updates has been very committed they say that the ZenFone Max Pro M1 could likely get updates faster due to the stock Android.

The ZenFone Max Pro M1 utilizes a 2nd generation 5 magnet speaker with built-in NXP Smart Amplifier for better audio for the masses. Other features include an up to 16MP front camera with soft light, triple card slot with a dedicated slot for 2x 4G SIM cards and microSD slot and Face Unlock to go with the rear fingerprint sensor.

Set for a 31 May 2018 launch date, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 will be coming in three variants with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage on Lazada. No Malaysia pricing details yet but we expect it to come for below RM800.

While we managed to get a hands-on experience with the ZenFone Max Pro M1, it was a sample version (missing a free case and headset). We'll be getting the full version soon so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, check out our hands-on pics with the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 below.
