The launch of the Redmi Note 9 series was confirmed early last week and now it has officially been released in India. What took some people by surprise is the naming scheme. Rather than a standard variant with a Pro version, Redmi India introduced its two new models as Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max.
In our previous articles, we mentioned how some of the details for the Redmi Note 9 Pro series including as the design and specs were already leaked. With the launch in India today, most of the leaks have been proven to be accurate. The main attraction for the launch was the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, which will come with the Snapdragon 720G chipset, 8GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage. It also comes with a quad rear camera setup that includes a 64MP main lens, 8MP ultra wide-angle camera, 5MP macro camera, and 2MP depth sensor.
As for the Redmi Note 9 Pro, it has slightly less RAM at 6GB, as well as a smaller 48MP main rear camera and 16MP selfie camera. Other than those, the two phones are virtually identical in terms of looks and specs. Additionally, both phones will come with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 back, an IR blaster, and support for RAW photography.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro will be available in India starting 17 March 2020, while the Note 9 Pro Max will start retailing from 25 March 2020 onwards.
