It's always a delight when Redmi’s General Manager, Lu Weibing shares about upcoming smartphones they are working on. Today, he took to Weibo to share about the battery life of the upcoming Snapdragon 855 Redmi smartphone.

The post mentions that he is very satisfied with the battery performance of the device and how it had exceeded his expectations. He posted a screenshot of the device’s UI which at first meant nothing until we saw the fingerprint icon at the bottom of the screen.

Previously, Lu Weibing had hinted that the device may not be released with an in-display fingerprint reader when he replied to a fan by mentioning that in-display readers are expensive. However, we had suspected that the device may be released with an in-display fingerprint scanner or a side-mounted fingerprint reader as rear mounted fingerprint scanners were absent from leaked promotional posters for the device.

Among leaked tech specs and features for the upcoming device include the Snapdragon 855 chipset, 8GB RAM + 128/256GB of internal storage, a 32MP pop up selfie camera, a triple rear camera setup with 48MP + 13MP + 8MP sensors with ultra-wide lens, a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, a 6.39 inch display as well as GPU overclocking. It has been speculated that the device may be announced on the 13th or 20th of May and it won't be called Redmi X but instead given another name. However, as the date approaches closer with no marketing or announcements made, perhaps it may be later.

As of right now, do take the info with a spoonful of salt as no official announcements have been made from Redmi yet. Regardless, we do know this smartphone might be pretty epic given the flagship specs and low price tags Redmi usually puts on its products. What do you think?
