Rumours: OnePlus 5 release sooner than we thought?

Renowned Chinese flagship killer phonemakers OnePlus are officially working on their next big release, the OnePlus 5. Now, everyone must be wondering why was there no OnePlus 4? The answer to that would be because they wanted to skip the unlucky number 4, which is the Chinese number equivalent to death.

Superstition aside, the reason why the phone release might be sooner than we think is because CEO and Cofounder of OnePlus, Pete Lau, has posted this teaser image on the OnePlus Weibo account:

For those who do not understand Chinese, it simply reads “indulge in labor without a break, just to make a big surprise” followed by the hashtag, #NeverSettle. The post itself does not reveal much but it could mean that the deadline for its release might be well right around corner.

As for the hardware though, there wasn’t much information provided by the Flagship Killers themselves but a report from Chinese site PCPop mentions that the phone may pack the following tech specs:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 835

  • 8GB RAM

  • 5.5-inch display with 2K resolution

  • Dual rear cameras

  • Slim bezels with no physical home button

  • 3000mAh battery

Please remember that these are just rumoured specs but one thing for sure is, based on these specs, the OnePlus 5 will be one beast of a flagship killer. Especially due to the high RAM and the Snapdragon 835 (Same as the Samsung Galaxy S8) as well as the increasingly popular dual camera setup.

Once again, please bear in mind that these are just rumours and should be taken with a pinch of salt. Unfortunately, the Malaysian release dates as well as the expected Malaysian pricings are not yet in sight but remember to stay tuned to TechNave.com for the latest updates!
