That's right, Samsung fans. We are back with the second round of camera tests! In case you missed the first one, you can check it out right here. Previously, we focused mainly on testing camera features like Single Take and Space Zoom. This time we would be conducting a practical camera test on Live Focus, telephoto and selfies, which many people use frequently.
It's also worth mentioning that the camera setup for the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G is vastly different from its Ultra counterpart. The Galaxy Note20 Ultra uses a 108MP triple rear camera setup, whereas the former has a 12MP (main) + 8MP (telephoto) + 12MP (ultrawide) triple rear camera setup. But is it inferior because of the lower megapixel count? Check out the photos below to find out for yourself.
Live Focus and selfies
Most smartphone users would rely on Live Focus (Samsung's version of Portrait Mode) and selfies for their daily social media feed. There's no need for an introduction here because you'll easily find these two features on the camera user interface. So, without beating the bush too much, here are some photo samples we took!
Before and after Live Focus
More Live Focus photos, the background blur is perfect behind our boy, Joshua
Here, you can see that the phone is capable of using its HDR software to brighten up your selfies, even more so with Live Focus
Finally, the rear camera can also use Live Focus, and we must say we were very impressed
Outdoor telephoto shots
We had no complaints about the quality of the telephoto camera, which has up to 3x optical zoom
Since it's part of the Space Zoom function, here's a bonus of the result at 30x digital zoom!
Bonus photo - we used an ultrawide shot for this one
Night City
Finally, if you know how to play around with the lighting, you can achieve a different kind of night photo like this one
A normal shot
An ultrawide shot, colour contrast remains stable
Another night street photo here - you can see the texture and detail of the floor with little noise
More photos of our model, good detail as expected
We used some Live Focus here, but only at a minimal level to better focus on our model
Last one - a selfie to wrap up the night!
So, these are the photo samples that we picked and we hope you enjoyed them. Despite its lower megapixel count, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G has proven that it's capable of taking great shots, and even do more in the hands of an experienced mobile photographer. In other words, high megapixel cameras may not necessarily perform better. But what do you think of the photos?
