Samsung Malaysia have just opened up a trade-in programme for their latest Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones with 19 smartphone models to trade-in that give discounts off the existing retail price from RM95 to RM1000. Considering that the standard Galaxy S6 is priced at RM2599 while the Galaxy S6 edge retails for RM3099, this is a pretty good offer on the surface, especially as you now have the option to get the Galaxy S6 edge with 64GB storage at RM3599 and the previously unavailable Blue Topaz for the Galaxy S6 and Green Emerald for the Galaxy S6 edge. The offer is valid until 31 May 2015. Take a closer look at the trade-in table below:
A closer look at the table reveals rather limited choices from several generations ago, which is good if you haven't bought any new smartphone for the past 2 to 3 years. The most recent and most valuable trade-in at RM1000 discount is the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which is rather surprising as it is the only new smartphone amongst the whole bunch. Would we say that that's a good deal? Well, since we haven't got the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge for review, we can't say for sure but we did get the Galaxy Note 4 and you can check what we thought about it in our full review. You can also check out our comparison tool of the Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S6 edge vs Galaxy Note 4 or use it with the other models listed above. You can trade-in via any Samsung Experience store or authorized reseller and the phone model table has been determined by Brightstar Distribution Sdn Bhd.
