Looks like Snapchat has been really busy lately. Just two days ago, the company updated its Lens Studio app to version 3.2, which can take advantage of the LiDAR scanner in the new iPhone 12 models for some cool effects. But the main Snapchat app was also updated recently, so users can finally add some audio to their content.

According to the announcement, the new 'Sounds' is a feature that lets you add music to your Snaps before or after you capture it. Now, when you receive a Snap with Sounds added, you can swipe up to view the album art, title of the song, and name of the artist. You can also choose to play the full song on platforms like Apple Music, Soundcloud, and Spotify. Basically, it's useful for introducing music to your friends.

Currently, the catalogue of songs that you can preview is limited. But Snapchat has sign agreements with many music publishers, so expect more songs to be added in the months to come. Snapchat is also promising that users can add songs or sounds that they have made by themselves to Snaps. One thing to note is that the Sounds feature is currently available on the iOS app only.

With the new feature, Snapchat is now similar to Instagram and TikTok, meaning it's got a chance to gain more users. Having said that, is the new feature enough to convince you to give Snapchat a try? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news like this.
