Several Malaysian top leaders have given statements about Tesla’s investment in Malaysia recently, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and MITI Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul. Now, it’s time for Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari to chip in, who expects Tesla to continue its investments in the state.
Bernama quoted Amirudin as saying that the Selangor Government welcomes Tesla’s continued investment plans in the state in the future, especially in research and development and the opening of electric vehicles (EV) service centres. He added that this invitation was in line with the company owner, Elon Musk’s desire to expand Tesla’s market in Asia.
As of today, Tesla has several operations in Selangor, including opening its headquarters in Cyberjaya and opening a charging centre. The Selangor Menteri Besar believe that the company will open service centres in the state soon too.
Overall, Tesla has opened 4 experience centres in Malaysia as of right now. The company also exceeded its target by installing 52 units of instant chargers with a capacity of over 180 kW in various places in the Klang Valley, Johor, Melaka, Penang and Pahang.
