Today, Xiaomi Malaysia is proud to announce to the first phone launch in Malaysia - the Redmi 9T. Scheduled to launch on 8 January 2021, the phone model already got leaked online and thought to be released at a much later date but that's not the case anymore.

There isn't much information about the tech specs, but rumours have it that the Redmi 9T could be a repackaged Redmi Note 9 4G which was released in China recently. Besides that, there was also a benchmark leak from Geekbench showing the phone using a MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset. Should it be true, then it could be the second phone with that chipset entering the Malaysian market.

The Redmi 9T is also said to feature at least 4GB of RAM and up to 8GB of RAM. Knowing the Redmi lineup, they usually use low-end tier specs so don't expect anything out of the ordinary. Since it could be using the Dimensity 800U chipset, that also means it's capable of connecting to 5G (but not that it matters in Malaysia).

The livestream will appear on Xiaomi Malaysia's official Facebook page at 8 PM. Until then, stay tuned for our official news coverage at TechNave.com.
