Users can only remove the Apple Studio Display’s power cable by using a special tool

The Studio Display which was first announced by Apple during tis ‘Peek Performance’ event earlier this month is now available for purchase at the Apple Store. In fact, some customers have already gotten their hands on the new smart monitor by Apple.

However, based on early reviews of the Studio Display, two bad things stood out. One is the lacklustre webcam quality which Apple has promised to fix, while the other one being its apparently non-removable power cable.

The latter seems to be quite odd given how the Pro Display XDR and 24-inch iMac both have removable power cable which helps with mobility. On its website, Apple even said that the power cord of the Studio Display is non-removable.

However, some users have actually managed to detach the power cord, though not doing it properly may cause damage to the monitor. As it turns out, you actually need a special tool to remove the power cable.

Shared by StellaFudge on Twitter, Apple has a special tool specifically designed to remove the power cable from the back of the display. Unfortunately, the tool is used internally by Apple technicians and not for sale commercially.

Based on the photo of the tool, it looks like the power cable will wrap around it and the tool will essentially become like a handle for the cable's removal. In fact, with the tool, the power connector can be removed from the Studio Display with ease.
