At the annual WWDC 2022, Apple revealed versions for many of the operating systems it has. This includes macOS Ventura, iPadOS 16, and iOS 16. Of course, those aren't the only ones that were updated. The company also announced a new version of watchOS - watchOS 9.

During the keynote, Apple's Kevin Lynch talked about the new version's enhancements to performance, cross-device connectivity, apps, and user interface. The Workout app now provides three new running form metrics - vertical oscillation, stride length, and ground contact time. As a result, you can learn more with a glance at your Apple Watch. Other features include the heart-rate zone, a new multi-sport tracker, Sleep Stages, and more.

It will also have four new watch faces, each with extra features to them. For example, Astronomy shows cloud coverage around the world. There's also the Lunar calendar watch that helps you keep track of certain holidays (like Chinese New Year), Play Time, and Metropolitan. There will also be a new Siri UI and banner notifications. Moreover, Active apps will now be pinned to the top for easy access.

watchOS 9 is still in the beta testing phase, like the other Apple operating systems. But if you're a developer, you can sign up to get access.
