In October 2021, it was reported that a new vivo NEX device would launch sometime in Q1 2022. A few of the device's tech specs were mentioned in recent rumours, but nobody knew what it would look like. Well, sources have provided some vivo NEX 5 renders that are believed to be accurate.

Some renders of the vivo NEX 5 were shared by @EqualLeaks, revealing a device that's notably different from its predecessor. While the vivo NEX 3 had its rear camera module near the top centre, the vivo NEX 5 features a larger camera module on the top-left. Allegedly, it's also co-engineered by Zeiss. Moreover, the pop-up front camera has been ditched for a standard punch-hole front camera.

In terms of tech specs, the vivo NEX 5 is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. It's also going to have up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The display would be a fairly large 7-inch AMOLED panel that supports a refresh rate of 120Hz. Other features mentioned include an 80W fast charging, IP68 water resistance, an under-display fingerprint reader, and an X-axis linear motor.

It's been more than 2 years since vivo launched its last NEX series smartphone. But it's believed that there will be a new model each year starting from 2022.
