The hard working folks at LG Innotek recently announced an under glass fingerprint sensor module by installing the sensor in a shallow furrow of 0.01 inches or 0.3mm on the lower backside of the cover glass. Tests with the module reveal that it is just as accurate (if not better) as existing exposed fingerprint sensors with a false acceptance rate of 0.002%. With this sensor embedded beneath the glass near the bezel, the sensor is better protected from water and shock while smartphone designers can create better designs like other capacitive keys.

Samsung recently demoed their brand new TouchWiz launcher at the Samsung Developer Conference, and it will be using the new Vulkan API. This has resulted in a 6% decrease in battery consumption, on basic tasks such as opening the app drawer or scrolling pages.
