Huawei have officially announced their Honor 7 smartphone today and like the Honor 6 Plus before it, it comes with a host of flagship features for a very affordable price tag. Finally going upwards from the previous Honor design, the Honor 7 offers a full metal unibody frame and backplate complete with a fingerprint scanner like the Huawei Mate 7. Breaking free of previous restrictions it is also the first Honor smartphone to come with a 20MP rear camera which also comes with phase detection auto-focus, dual tone LED flash and a sapphire protective glass layer. Tech specs include a 64-bit 2.2GHz octa-core Kirin 935 processor, 3GB RAM, 5.2-inch FHD display, 8MP front camera, 3100 mAh battery, fast charging and Android 5.0 Lollipop. Pricing is surprisingly affordable with the single SIM 4G LTE version with 16GB storage going for 1999 CNY (RM1214), the dual SIM 4G LTE version for 2199 CNY (RM1335) and the dual SIM 4G LTE version with 64GB storage going for 2499 CNY (RM1517). No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet but Honor Malaysia should be bringing it in soon. A lot of other features are also available such as more complete voice commands like the speech awareness on the Huawei P8, while the premium design should make the Honor 7 even more of a value-beating device here in Malaysia.

Announced at the recent Computex 2015, the ASUS ZenPad tablets made a pretty big impact with their combination of good looks and new tech specs. Recently spotted on the SIRIM database, the ASUS ZenPad 7 and ZenPad C tablets are expected to come to Malaysia sometime in July 2015. Both feature the new Intel x3 processor and while there are still no pricing details, early estimates have both tablets at the entry-level range. While you wait for these tablets to arrive, ASUS have come out with the highlight videos for the ASUS ZenPad 8, ZenPad 7 and ZenPad C which you can check out for yourself in this article.

The next iteration of the OnePlus "flagship killer" the OnePlus 2 has been confirmed to come with a fingerprint sensor. Coming courtesy of OnePlus themselves, this bit of information follows their incremental approach at revealing bit by agonizing bit about their upcoming smartphone. So far, OnePlus have also confirmed that it will be using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor that won't overheat. Other details and tech specs were not available but the new fingerprint sensor will apparently be quick (which means it will likely be a one-touch type) and can store up to five fingerprints. No Malaysia release dates yet but many are expecting the OnePlus 2 on 27 July 2015.

Joining in with the affordable price war kicked off by the FIRST Basic 38 by Celcom plan, U Mobilehave announced revisions to their postpaid voice/data and broadband plans. For their voice/data postpaid plans of U28, P50 and P70 you can now get an extra 2GB or more worth of data (the P70 plan gets 2.5GB more and recent upgrades also now enable unlimited calls to all networks). The revision includes existing subscribers along with new subscribers, so if you're a U Mobile postpaid plan user, you'll be getting the notification message soon. In addition, U Mobile postpaid broandband plans like MB40, MB68, MB88 and MB128 will also get an extra 2GB of data (or more) along with a free 21Mbps MiFi modem. This is valid until 31 August 2015 but the extra data will remain as long as you remain subscribed. Logitech Malaysia recently announced their new Logitech MX Anywhere 2 Wireless Mobile Mouse for those on the go who need a precision control device. Powered by an advanced Darkfield Laser Sensor, the MX Anywhere 2 Wireless Mobile Mouse can be used on any surface including glass. Designed to be portable and comfortable the mouse is small enough to slip into a bag while it's rubber surface provides slip-free comfort despite prolonged use. Other features and tech specs include the ability to switch between Bluetooth and wireless connectivity along with the ability to control three devices at once. Utilizing a rechargeable battery, the mouse can last for 2 months before needing another charge and also features customizable options and buttons as well. Vivo Malaysia recently launched their new Vivo X5Pro smartphone for RM1599. Featuring a full metal frame and 2.5D curved glass on the front and back the X5Pro also comes with a 13MP f2.0 camera with phase detection autofocus and sapphire lens. Other stand-out features include dedicated HiFi audio with a Cirrus Logic DAC AK4375 audio chip but like the previous Vivo X5Max, this is only discernible with headphones. Other tech specs include a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, dual SIM 4G LTE support, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 5.2-inch FHD super AMOLED display, 8MP front camera and 2450 mAh battery. It will run Android 5.0 Lollipop right out of the box with vivo's FunTouch OS 2.1 and is available at all authorized dealers in Malaysia.

Intel continues it's march into mobile devices with the official launch of the JOI Phone 5 smartphone and JOI 7 Lite tablet today. The JOI range of devices comes courtesy of local Malaysian company SNS Networks, with the two new devices joining their current line of JOI tablets. The two new devices will be using Intel's new Intel Atom x3-C3130 processor (SoFIA 3G) which integrates 3G connectivity, improving performance and reducing costs. The JOI Phone 5 features a 5-inch IPS HD display, (1280 x 720 pixel resolution) and 3G connectivity for RM399. The JOI 7 Lite on the other hand, features a 7-inch IPS display (1024 x 600 pixel resolution), 3G connectivity and call and SMS capabilities for RM299. Both come with stock Android 4.4 and suport dual SIM dual active slots. Huawei recently announced that networking professionals in Malaysia will be the first to get access to their Huawei Certified Internetwork Expert Routing & Switching (HCIE-R&S) certification. The certification was previously only available in China, Netherlands and Dubai. This should reduce the costs required to gain said certification and offer networking professionals within the region another option to gain HCIE-R&S certification. Done in collaboration with Infosyte Sdn Bhd, which is a Huawei Authorized Learning Partner, professionals interested in HCIE will be able to gain the certification after the appropriate training, written test and corresponding lab examination followed by a comprehensive interview have been carried out. The HCIE-R&S certification emphasizes complex network interconnection and troubleshooting capabilities and is designed to help network engineers build, optimize and manage complex enterprise network infrastructures.
