Xiaomi has officially announced it's new Mi Note and Mi Note Pro smartphones. Taking over from the Mi 4, the new Mi Note offers many flagship-level features and tech specs. These include a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB / 64GB internal memory and a 5.7-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 1400:1 contrast ratio with adaptive dynamic contrast. The display has been curved somewhat with a 2.5D front glass, 3D back glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on both the front and back. The sides are brushed metal and rounded corners for a very premium look and feel. Other tech specs include a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and optical image stabilization along with a 4MP front camera with large 2-micron pixel sensor. A 3000 mAh battery keeps the lights on and it connects via dual 4G SIM cards. Surprisingly, the Mi Note is relatively light at 161g and will come with MIUI 6. The 16GB Mi Note is priced from 2299 CNY (RM1322) while the 64GB version will go for 2799 CNY (RM1610).
The Mi Note Pro on the other hand retains most of the same features except for a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 5.7-inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and 4G LTE Cat9 connectivity. The Mi Note Pro will going from 3299 CNY (RM1897) which should make it a very attractive offer if or when it arrives in Malaysia. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet, but it should be soon considering Xiaomi Malaysia.

In the next few days, Xiaomi Malaysia is going to launch a number of discounts and bundle offers on its upcoming devices. If you were waiting for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G variant, mark your calendars as Xiaomi Malaysia just announced that the device would be available for sale in the country from 11 December 2014. The news comes almost three weeks after Xiaomi announced the device back in Singapore. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G supports 4G TDD-LTE network unlike the regular 3G version. However, this isn't the only difference between the two devices. For example, the regular Redmi Note runs on a Mediatek processor unlike this variant which features a Snapdragon 400 Quad Core processor. The battery is smaller on the 4G version, 3100 mAh instead of 3200 mAh capacity and it weighs 10 grams less too. Also, the new device is expandable up to 64GB via MicroSD as opposed to 32GB on the Note 3G. Xiaomi has also removed the dual sim card slots in the 4G model. Other than these, tech specs and design are the same. You have a 8GB internal storage, 5.5inch IPS 720p display, 13MP f/2.2 rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The Redmi Note 4G will be available to purchase for a retail price of RM589. Meanwhile, check out the detailed comparison between both the devices using our tech spec comparison tool.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is finally here in Malaysia. Featuring tech specs that include a 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a 5.5-inch display and 4G LTE support, the phablet is going for RM589. Other tech specs remain the same with a 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and a 3100 mAh battery. The only differences are the 4G LTE enabling processor, no dual-SIM support and of course the price tag, with the original 3G only Redmi Note retailing for RM509. In line with the release, Xiaomi Malaysia are offering a Redmi Note 4G Pop Quiz from 17 November 2014 to 1 December 2014 to win a new Redmi Note 4G smartphone. It also looks like the original Redmi Note is no longer on sale, at least at the Xiaomi Malaysia site.

These tech specs include a 2.2GHZ octa-core MediaTek MT6595 processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB storage, 5.5-inch display, 20.7MP rear camera, 8MP front camera and 3500 mAh battery. Other notable features include rapid charging and an AnTuTu benchmark score of 47233 which is quite high indeed. No news yet on Malaysia release dates or pricing or even if it will be called the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. However, it is estimated that the pricing will begin from $165 (RM536) for the 16GB version.

It appears that even the RM509 Xiaomi Redmi Note is being pirated with fake Xiaomi Redmi Note smartphones. This comes from a fellow Malaysian buyer who got ripped off from what appeared to be a third-party seller (scalper) who sold the fake Xiaomi Redmi Note he bought at RM639. When he got the fake phone he discovered that the tech specs and features didn't match, and the smartphone that he got could not take very good pictures (the original Xiaomi Redmi Note packs in a very good 13MP rear camera) and even could not upgrade to the latest version of Facebook. He went on to buy an original Xiaomi Redmi Note (again from a third-party seller at RM699) to make a video comparison between the two.
Most of the differences can't be tested for unless you download and run certain benchmark programs like AnTuTu X where the fake smartphone will score around 9000+ while the original will go for around 26000+. We'd recommend that you check out his detailed comparison (in Malay) but if you're faced with the actual device the easiest way to check would be to try out the camera and record 1080p full HD video, then play it back. If it is the real Xiaomi Redmi Note the playback should be smooth while the fake one will lag. Xiaomi Malaysia generally sell all of their products on their own website and do not have any authorized third-party sellers or distributors in Malaysia so buyers should beware of this when buying through other sources. In the meantime, do check out the comparison video.

Xiaomi has officially announced the 4G LTE capable version of their Xiaomi Redmi Note phablet. The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is currently priced at 999 Yuan (RM519) which is about RM10 more than the RM509 the current 3G capable Redmi Note is going for. No news on Malaysia release dates or pricing just yet, but it seems quite likely that the pricing will be just RM519, especially if Xiaomi Malaysia want to maintain their value-priced momentum. - 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 (MSM8928) processor
- 2GB RAM
- 8GB storage + up to 64GB microSD
