The news about Maxis and U Mobile backing out of taking up stakes in Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) for the 5G deal came out last night. Fast enough, U Mobile has made a statement today to clarify the situation and ensure its customers that 5G services will still get provided through the telco company. 

Today is the deadline day for the 5G service agreement in Malaysia and it seems that the 5G single-wholesale network under Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) may exclude Maxis and U Mobile. This is after both telco companies reportedly say no to taking up stakes in DNB, despite agreeing to the matter back in June 2022.

All telco companies that will be providing 5G services in Malaysia have started technical tests regarding their implementation. This is according to the Chief Operating Officer (CEO) of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Datuk Mohd Ali Hanafiah Mohd Yunus.
