After the news of implementing 5G connectivity in Putrajaya and Cyberjaya starting from April onwards, Maxis has announced that they have already started its first 5G live trials in Malaysia. The live trial will be conducted in Cyberjaya for six months so far, Maxis has managed to achieve a download speed of 3Gbps.

We all thought 5G would never come to Malaysia, at least not in the next 5 years at least. Well, we may just be wrong as 5G pioneer testing will be coming to Malaysia in April starting with Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.

Today at MWC 2019 which is located in Barcelona, Spain. OPPO has officially unveiled the 10x Lossless Zoom Technology as well as their first 5G smartphone. Aforementioned technology uses three different camera sensors, which includes a super wide-angle camera, a 48MP camera as well as a telephoto camera to achieve up to 10 times magnification. Not only that, they have managed to incorporate this technology into a smartphone without adding additional thickness to it.

The Malaysian government will wait on the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission's report, before allowing Huawei to build their 5G infrastructure in Malaysia. Based on TheStar.com.my, the delay is due to various security concerns involving Huawei globally, including allegations of cyberspying, international scandals and so on. Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo wants to play it safe, to ensure that the system is secure before rolling out.

Vivo is super excited about its 5G technology. Previously, we mentioned that the company has already completed the research and development on 5G smartphones and it's no doubt that 5G will be one of the most demanded features on future smartphones in the industry. During their recent global analyst summit in Shenzhen, Huawei showed a slide teasing their first Huawei 5G mobile hotspot set for Q2 of 2019. They also revealed what could be their first 5G smartphone, which is presumed to be the Huawei Mate 30 in the second half of 2019 which also indicates when Malaysia and other countries could start seeing the full implementation of 5G networks.

Today, Celcom Axiata Berhad and Ericsson have showcased their first ever 5G network trial in Malaysia, as well as the first 5G trial conducted on the 28GHz band in South East Asia. This was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Dato' Jailani Johari, Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia today, at Celcom's headquarters.
