ASUS originally made the announcement for other ASUS FonePad 7 versions at MWC 2014, with the dual-SIM version being one of them. It should appear in Malaysia very soon for RM699. While the overall look and feel is the same, certain other tech specs and features are also different as this dual-SIM version carries a 1.2GHZ Intel Atom Z2520 processor (the earlier ASUS FonePad 7 had a 1.6GHZ Intel Atom Z2560 processor). Storage for the dual-SIM version has also been cut down to 8GB.

Joining the other ASUS PadFones is the new ASUS PadFone Infinity Lite which was recently announced in Taiwan. The PadFone Infinity Lite looks to follow the same look and feel as the ASUS PadFone Infinity 2 back in 2013 but there are differences in terms of tech specs and of course pricing. The PadFone Infinity Lite will be packing a lower-end but still good 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, a 13MP rear camera and a 2400 mAh battery. The tablet dock has tech specs which include a 10.1-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution along with a larger 5000 mAh battery. Availability is restricted to Taiwan for now but we could see some Malaysia release dates soon. Pricing is reasonable at 13990 TWD (RM1525) for the smartphone and 7000 TWD (RM763) for the tablet dock.

The ASUS PadFone series consists of smartphones that can be slotted into larger tablet screens. The smartphone is still the one powering the transformed tablet but the screen size is definitely bigger. Coming in between the performance ASUS PadFone Infinity and the lower-end ASUS PadFone Mini is the recently announced ASUS PadFone E. While the PadFone E looks a lot like the PadFone Mini it offers a bit more in terms of tech specs and features. These include a 1.4GHz A7 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, 13MP rear camera with LED flash, Android 4.3 and a 1820 mAh battery. The tablet portion offers a 10.1-inch display with similar 1280 x 720 pixel resolution but adds on a 1MP front camera and 5000 mAh battery which can be used to charge the PadFone E smartphone. The larger screen on the PadFone E comes up to 126g while the tablet part weighs in at 526g with black and white colours available. It is expected to be priced at $560 (RM1873) and will be made available initially in Taiwan. It should eventually reach Malaysia as well and if it keeps the same price tag, it should be a bit more affordable than the other two PadFones.

Following their motto "In Search of Incredible" Asus are releasing teaser videos of upcoming devices to be revealed at CES 2014. With CES 2014 just around the corner on 6 January 2014, Asus have released two teaser videos hinting at a dual-boot Android and Windows tablet along with devices with 4-inch, 5-inch and 6-inch screens. The first teaser video shows off the Statue of Liberty holding up a tablet flashing green and blue, which in terms of OS, probably mean Android green and Windows blue. The second teaser video shows variously coloured and numbered balls falling down from the sky in Taipei, with closeups on balls with the number 4, 5 and 6. While Asus could be gunning for a 6-inch tablet, it seems more likely that the 4-inch, 5-inch and 6-inch devices would be smartphones, possibly following the Asus Fonepad or Padfone. Check out the teaser trailers for yourself in this article.

Previous PadFones had 10.1-inch tablets but perhaps due to the smaller nature of the PadFone Mini 4.3, the tablet that it comes with now has a 7-inch display. The tablet part offers a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and an extra 2200 mAh battery which even lets you recharge the smartphone using the tablet battery.
