Android N could have split screens... wait, didn't ASUS already have that for KitKat?

Quite recently, the folks in charge of the Google Pixel C tablet were quoted as saying that Android N (no news yet if it might be Nougat) will have split screens as a major feature. However, we can't help but remember that ASUS had a split screen feature for their ASUS MeMo Pad 8 ME512CL called Dual Screen and that the tablet ran on Android 4.4 KitKat.

It was certainly useful but limited by the apps that it could access, but since ASUS didn't see fit to include it in subsequent ZenUI updates, we assume the feature wasn't well-received. Perhaps it is time for the current range of ASUS tablets, the ASUS ZenPads to get that feature once more? Check out our full review of the ASUS MeMo Pad 8 ME512CL for more details on the Dual Screen feature.

ASUS ZenPad 7.0 Audio Cover hands-on video

While the ASUS ZenPad 7.0 launch was going on we managed to get some hands-on time with the Audio Cover, one of the accessories you can use to further customize the ZenPad 7.0 tablet. Featuring 5.1 channel surround sound with a subwoofer and six built-in speakers the Audio Cover was able to play clear audio even with the larger speakers for the launch background music blaring away. Just imagine how it would sound like by itself and you might be able to turn your tablet into an instant boombox. So far, we've only seen two colours for the Audio Cover, which are black and white but both are super thin and lightweight enough to look like a slightly thicker case. No exact Malaysia release dates are available for the Audio Cover yet, but it is estimated to be coming in the next few weeks for the pricing of RM249. Check out our hands-on video and pictures of the Audio Cover below for yourself.

  • A video evolution in design of the ASUS Fonepad 7 to the ASUS ZenPad 7.0

A video evolution in design of the ASUS Fonepad 7 to the ASUS ZenPad 7.0

According to ASUS, the ASUS ZenPad tablets were created to replace the ASUS Fonepad tablet phones or tablets with smartphone call and SMS capabilities. Now that the ASUS ZenPad is here with the ASUS ZenPad C 7.0 and ASUS ZenPad 7.0, we thought we'd take a step through memory lane by going through the design, look and feel of the previous ASUS Fonepad 7 tablets up until the current ZenPad tablets. While all of them carried a 7-inch display, the Fonepad tablets were initially a lot thicker and rounder, eventually evolving to a flat and thin look with the newer Fonepad tablets. This evolved again into the clutch case-like design of the ZenPad tablets with the interchangeable Zen Case backplates of the ZenPad 7.0. Check out our comparison video in this article for yourself.
