As previously teased by an Apple executive, the new MacBook Pro has been announced alongside the iPad Pro. Just like the latter, the new laptop is now powered by the brand-new Apple M5 chip, designed to perform the next generation of AI performance, graphics power, and energy efficiency. The starting price is RM6999, with a few variants to choose from.

In a sleek and cryptic teaser that has the tech world buzzing, Apple’s Marketing VP Greg Joswiak dropped a major hint that a new MacBook Pro is officially on the horizon. A simple post on X reading “Mmmmm… something powerful is coming” was accompanied by a mysterious image — a silhouette that looks unmistakably like the next-gen MacBook Pro. Hidden within the teaser are clues pointing to Apple’s next big leap in performance.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is poised to usher in the next generation of its creative hardware lineup with the imminent launch of the M5-powered MacBook Pro and iPad Pro, a key milestone in its transition to AI-driven computing. The move comes as part of Apple's broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence across its devices and respond to shifting market dynamics.

Apple was previously set to introduce a new MacBook Pro design, which featured a notch on the screen to position the camera. The design received mixed reactions from various users, some liking it, while others considered it an annoyance on the laptop screen. That said, Apple might change this design. So, what should you know about it?

Aside from their M2 Pro and M2 Max powered MacBook Pro laptops, Apple has officially announced the release of their new Apple Mac mini desktops. However, these devices will be powered by the M2 and M2 Pro only with no mention of any M2 Max variant just yet. Prices start from RM2499.

Apple has officially announced the release of their Apple MacBook Pro laptops powered by their new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. On top of the M2 powered 13-inch display version, Apple is now including M2 Pro and M2 Max powered 14-inch and 16-inch Liquid Retina XDR display variants as well with pricing starting from RM8799.

Apple have announced their M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets with the M2 Pro delivering up to 12-core CPU and up to 19-core GPU with up to 32GB of fast unified memory. The M2 Max utilizes this same CPU but goes a level higher with a 38-core GPU, double the unified memory bandwidth and up to 96GB of unified memory. Both chips feature a faster 16-core Neural Engine and are featured in Apple’s latest MacBook Pro and Mac Mini lineups. 

Apple may be making its first launch of 2023 as early as tomorrow (18 January 2023) as sources are claiming that the tech giant will be announcing new MacBook Pro models. Moreover, the company is expected to hold Mac-related briefings with the media followed by an announcement on its Newsroom website.

Apple’s MacBook lineup has undergone significant changes over the years, the most notable being the company’s transition to its own Apple Silicon SoCs. However, one thing that remains constant is the lack of a touchscreen but that may change soon.

The iconic light-up Apple logo on the back of MacBooks may be making a comeback in the near future after its 7-year-long absence. This is following a successful patent application by the tech giant on the implementation of “Electronic Devices With Backlit Partial Mirror Structure” published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office last week.
