Previously, we reported that current iPads that are not powered by the M1 SoC will not be getting the ‘Stage Manager’ feature in iPadOS 16 due to certain limitations. Apple has made its iPad lineup one step closer into becoming a full-fledged computer replacement with iPadOS 16 with features such as Stage Manager that allows for next-level multitasking on a tablet. Well, the next iPad Pro lineup may make those multitasking tasks even smoother as they are touted to be powered by the latest Apple Silicone, the M2 SoC.

The recently held WWDC 2022 event by Apple introduced a lot of new features and improvements for iPhones and iPads via iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 respectively. For the latter, among the most notable addition has got to be the ‘Stage Manager’ feature which allows users to resize apps into overlapping windows, a feature similarly found on new macOS Ventura.

While this new addition makes the iPad one step closer to being a computer replacement in terms of software, it seems that only iPads that are powered by the M1 SoC will have the privilege to get the feature. This is because Apple has clarified that iPads that run on its mobile A-series bionic chips will not get Stage Manager, which includes the iPad Pro 2020 which is only 2 years old.

Apple may release a new iPad Pro with an 'M2' SoC and MagSafe charging this September

Reliable Apple leaker Mark Gurman yesterday revealed that the next-generation iPad Pro might be unveiled as early as this September. According to his latest ‘Power On’ newsletter, the Bloomberg columnist said that the new iPad Pro will be powered by Apple’s upcoming ‘M2’ SoC.

Furthermore, Gurman also claimed that the new iPad Pro lineup will feature MagSafe charging; a first in any iPads. This new charging mechanism is similar to the MagSafe utilised in iPhones rather than the one reintroduced in the latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros.
