Finally, after finally implementing a higher resolution 48MP camera sensor with up to 5x zoom, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max has managed to break into the DXOMARK Top 3 smartphone camera rankings. Already the undisputed king for smartphone video recording despite no 8K video recording, the iPhone 15 Pro Max now takes the #2 spot below the Huawei P60 Pro.

It seems like every other month this year that the #1 spot for DXOMark’s smartphone camera ranking changes hands. Formerly held by the OPPO Find X6 Pro at 153, this spot is now held by the Huawei P60 Pro with a score of 156. DXOMark notes that the device offers “Great overall camera performance” for all types of pictures and videos including lowlight, group photos, zoom shots and macro mode.

DXOMARK recently announced that the OPPO Find X6 Pro is now #1 on their Smartphone camera ranking with a score of 153. Previously, the #1 ranking was held by the Honor Magic5 Pro with a score of 152 but the OPPO Find X6 Pro received top scores in terms of lowlight and group and portrait photos and videos.

If you don't know DxOMark, they are a group that specializes in reviewing, testing and grading smartphone cameras. And if you're a smartphone enthusiast, you would probably have come across its name for giving scores on newly release smartphones but it seems that they are introducing a U.S.-only ranking.

Apple themselves labeled their Apple iPhone 12 Pro as “the photographer’s iPhone” and we have to say that it has managed to get 128 in DxOMark, reaching 4th place in the Top 5 smartphone camera ranking. The Huawei Mate 40 Pro remains at 1st place with a score of 136, followed by the Xiaomi M10 Ultra at 133 and the Huawei P40 Pro at 132.

Just a few days ago, DxOMark teased on its Twitter page that they were going to announce their latest Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max camera review and it's here now. The flagship has a total score of 124 points for photography and 102 on videography, totalling up to an average of 117 points sharing the third spot with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and its 5G model.

Right after the global launch of the Huawei P30 series, camera-centric site DxOMark have given the P30 Pro the highest mobile camera score of 112, knocking out the Mate 20 Pro, P20 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10+ which were at 109. Featuring massive improvements over practically any other smartphone currently in the market, DxOMark not only says that “... the P30 Pro is easily the most versatile mobile imaging tool to date…” but also reveals that its secret to success is a mixture of super resolution or photo binning (combining multiple RAW images into one) like in the Google Pixel 3, the new periscope lens and the ToF sensor.

Camera-focused site DxOMark have come out with their review of the Apple iPhone XS Max, giving it a rating of 105 (a good 4 points lower than the 109 1st-place scoring Huawei P20 Pro). Granted, this is much higher than the 97 scored by the iPhone X, as they remark that the 6.5-inch display iPhone XS Max uses a larger 1.4µm pixels sensor with improved image processing, enabling zero shutter lag and real-time HDR preview.

Fresh from the highest score of 94 on DxOMark for the Apple iPhone 8 Plus, DxOMark have awarded the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with the same score of 94 but mention the zoom in particular. Featuring 12MP dual-rear cameras and a wide-angle 26mm f/1.7 lens plus a 52mm telephoto f/2.4 lens with x2 optical zoom and x8 digital zoom, according to DxOMark the Galaxy Note 8 has the best zoom capabilities for a cameraphone to date. Apparently, the Galaxy Note 8 managed to get the highest score of 100 in the photography section for less noise and more details but doesn't do as well in video with a score of 84.
