Today, our Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil told the media that a new Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) CEO will be chosen soon. Not only that but it has also been decided that the Ministry of Finance will be the one that elects the new DNB CEO.

Yesterday, Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) was pleased to announce its 5G network is ahead of schedule. According to the company, its 5G network will exceed 40% coverage of populated areas (COPA) nationwide by December 2022 and is on track to achieve the committed 80% COPA by 2024 or earlier.

Since all the local telcos are on board (except Maxis) with Digital Nasional Berhad's 5G Single Wholesale Network (SWN), Opensignal could finally do better research on Malaysians' 5G experience. Although it's still relatively early, Opensignal reported that we have "demonstrated an impressive improvement over existing 4G networks".

As announced by U Mobile previously, its customers will be able to use 5G-ready postpaid and prepaid plans when using compatible devices today. Upon visiting the website, the company has already listed all the eligible postpaid and prepaid plans for 5G. 

Caretaker Minister of Communications and Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa has announced that approximately 12 million users in our country will enjoy 5G connectivity by the end of 2022. This is following the signing of the 5G access agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) by 5 out of 6 local telco companies.

Following Telekom Malaysia’s (TM) signing of the Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) Access Agreement on Sunday (30 October 2022), the company has launched its first phase of 5G services today. As Malaysia's other major telcos sign up for Digital Nasional Berhad's (DNB) 5G rollout, Yes 5G continues to be the first telco to offer 5G connectivity in Malaysia. Like the rest of the telcos, Celcom also announced that it has subscribed to Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB)'s 5G single wholesale network. Starting from 1 November 2022, Celcom customers, including Celcom Business customers, who have 5G-enabled devices and are subscribed to selected Celcom postpaid and prepaid plans, will automatically be able to access 5G network services within 5G coverage areas. 

The caretaker Menteri Besar of Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad has announced that the state is expected to reach 80 per cent 5G network coverage by the year 2024. Furthermore, 106 new 5G network sites will also be built in Perak by the end of the year, complementing the existing 37 network sites in the state.
