Not long after launching the Huawei Mate 40 series last year, Huawei claimed that it had 120W and 200W fast-charging tech. At the time, those power ratings were allegedly not suitable for mobile devices. But now the company has one that would be suitable.

As fast-charging becomes increasingly better, the need for standards become more important. There are too many companies developing fast chargers, so it's important for there to be a unified standard. Fortunately, the big companies are well ahead of us.

Fast charging technology is becoming somewhat a norm on Android phones, but we are about to go faster. If you are an OPPO, OnePlus and realme user, you'd be happy to know that some new phone models with 125W fast charging are launching in the second half of 2021.

For the vast majority, fast-charging of around 65W would be more than enough. There's no need for anything faster unless you are always out and drain your phone really fast. But companies have been pushing fast-charging speeds and there's a new rumour about it.

In case you missed OPPO's announcement, they are going to reveal a new 125W Super Flash Charge technology tomorrow in China. To tag along this hype train, it seems that realme will also be showcasing their own version as Madhav Sheth, realme India CEO had teased a "121W Ultra Dart charging technology" on his tweet. 

So this just came in, OPPO just tweeted a piece of intriguing news about their SuperVOOC technology. If you are not familiar, OPPO is known for having a safe fast-charging technology up to 65W but that's gonna change. Why? This is because they have just announced that there is a new one on which reach up to 125W!!!

It seems more companies are getting ready to launch fast-chargers supporting more than 100W. Xiaomi's 120W fast-charger is supposedly around the corner and now realme might be following suit. Allegedly, realme will reveal a fast-charging tech that supports more than 100W soon.

Some may find it silly at this point, but companies are continually pushing battery charging speeds to crazy levels. We've seen Xiaomi experiment with 100W fast-charging last year and Black Shark is working on that for its next flagship gaming phone. And now sources claim that we'll see actual products that support 100W fast-charging by Q1 2021.

Other than the tech specs of cameras, the fast-charging capability is also getting competitive in the smartphone industry. The highest fast charge capacity currently sits at 65W, and many companies are aiming to launch devices that are capable to support more than 100W. Earlier, Xiaomi demonstrated their 100W fast-charging solution that is able to fully charge a 4,000mAh battery in just 17 minutes. Now, it is rumoured that the technology will appear on a Black Shark phone.

The rumour mill isn't always reliable, but there's always something interesting. For many smartphone users, fast-charging speed is one of those interesting things. A new rumour hints that OPPO's SuperVOOC 3.0 will be available next year and that it'll deliver 80W fast-charging.
