HUAWEI is touted to announce the HarmonyOS NEXT, a homegrown and Android-free OS during its developer conference next month. A beta version of the OS is expected to launch in said event, with a full rollout in September.

At the end of August, Huawei CEO Richard Yu said that there will be no smartphones that will have HarmonyOS in 2020. But that doesn't mean there wouldn't be any HarmonyOS-based device this year. In fact, rumours claim that Huawei could launch tablets this year that feature its in-house operating system.

The keynote that Huawei presented at IFA 2020 wasn't all that exciting, as it didn't mention anything about upcoming products. But luckily, the company did announce online that there would be new products announced on 10 September, which coincides with the Huawei Developer Conference (HDC).

While there were some rumours that Huawei could launch smartphones with the HarmonyOS later this year, that no longer seems to be the case. Huawei's in-house operating system for smartphones has been in development for a few years, but it's probably still not ready yet.

Many of you must be familiar with the tragic news that happened in Wuhan, China. The disease outbreak has caused the region to be quarantined and 11 million people are currently barred from leaving. This has also affected many events that are supposed to happen in the area as they are being forced to cancel or schedule another time. One of the events appears to be Huawei’s largest annual developer conference, the HDC.Cloud 2020.
