In just a few days, HUAWEI will be finally launching the highly-anticipated Mate 40 series with the 5nm chipset at an event. It is best to note that this is the first time we’ve seen this kind of camera module shape because all these while, smartphone manufacturers used either a circular, square, or a diamond-shaped camera module instead.

Based on a statement by a weibo user, it seems that Huawei could be planning to release a Huawei Mate 30 series smartphone called the Mate 30 Pro E during the Mate 40 launch that’s happening very soon. Based on a statement by PCOnline, it seems that the launch of the Huawei Mate 40 series is just around the corner because reports stated that the first batch of the series will go on sale from late October 2020 onwards. While not much is known in regards to the exact pricing of the new series, we do know that the series consists of smartphones such as the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro Plus, as well as the Mate 40 RS Porsche Special Edition.

Based on a statement by a weibo user, it seems that the Huawei Mate 40 will come equipped with a single hole-punch camera at the front while the Mate 40 Pro and Pro Plus variant will have a pill-shaped cutout instead. While there’s no official information on the availability date, our source did mention that the smartphones will come equipped with an IMX588 as well as the IMX516 image sensor, with the latter being a ToF sensor.
