Coming with a difficult to adjust metal band and Huawei Wear exclusive functionality along with a very high price tag, it isn't surprising that the first Huawei Watch didn't do very well. It had been rumoured earlier on that Huawei would also be launching the Huawei Watch 2 alongside the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Android Wear 2.0, which was supposed to be released in Q4 2016, was delayed, and is now finally seeing the light of the day. Now, if you’re one of the previous-generation Android Wear Smartwatch users, you must be wondering, “Would this new update arrive on my wrists?”. The Huawei Mate 8 is currently going live at KLCC Concourse for their Huawei Mate 8 Carnival. Available until 2 May 2016, the roadshow offers the recent Huawei Mate 8 trade-up program (so you can get it for less than RM300!), telco deals with Celcom, Digi and Maxis and plenty of prizes. These include a free Huawei G780 for the first 50 buyers and a Huawei ANC Earpiece for the next 50.

Apart from the Huawei Mate 8 and other CES 2016 announcements, Huawei also revealed that they managed to ship 108 million smartphones for 2015, gaining the #3 position in the global smartphone market and the top smartphone position in China. Revenues were more than $20 billion for 2015, almost a 70 percent increase over 2014.
Huawei attributes this success to continuous collaborations made with other top brands such as Google (resulting in the Huawei Nexus 6P), Swarovski (resulting in new Huawei Watch designs) and Harmon Kardon (resulting in the MediaPad M2 tablets). Here in Malaysia, Huawei not only rolled out the Nexus 6P, Mate S and Honor 7 but also started off their Smart City solution. According to Huawei, 2016 will involve more collaborations, building upon the momentum of their achievements in 2015.

Last month, we reported a rumour that Huawei was planning a new Huawei Watch for the ladies and it turns out to be true. Two new variants, the “Elegant” and “Jewel” Huawei Watch were revealed at the CES 2016 and my, they sure look beautiful.
There’s no new tech specs on the new Huawei Watch, so it’s safe to assume it retains the same specifications as the current one. However, the Elegant and Jewel version are slightly larger than the original Huawei Watch with 44mm (42mm is the original).
