Samsung mid-range smartphones have always caught the attention of the public for only one reason - is it worth buying? Since last year, the popularity of mid-range smartphones have kind of skyrocketed through the roof in Malaysia. Also, if you're an enthusiastic gadget follower, you would know that mid-range phones tend to look like premium phones too, which is what Samsung are doing with their latest Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018).

Finally, the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) are released in Malaysia for a price tag of RM1799 and RM2499 respectively. We got ourselves the plus variant and explored if there's actually any difference between the two. Well, turns out there isn't much except for a bigger display of 6-inch (FHD+), 6GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage and a bigger battery up to 3500mAh. So not only did we get to see the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018), but the plus variant - Galaxy A8+ (2018) was also revealed and both models will be available today for RM1799 and RM2499 respectively. Those who purchase the phones on 19 - 21 January 2018 will be able to get a free battery powerbank and a 64GB memory card. As the name suggests, the Galaxy A8+ (2018) is the bigger brother and has larger memory, display and battery capacity. Last year, when the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) came out, we quickly compared the two as the tech-specs were quite similar back then. Fast forward to one year later, the Galaxy A8 (2018) is coming out real soon so if you have the Galaxy A7 (2017), you might have wondered if it's worth it to upgrade or not. Barely a day after leaks showed off the latest Samsung Galaxy A (2018) series and Samsung have officially announced their Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) smartphones. Successors of the previous Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017), the 2 new Galaxy A (2018) phones share 18.5:9 aspect ratio Infinity Displays, dual front cameras and IP68 dust and water resistance. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet, but it is expected globally in January 2018. Malaysia generally gets Samsung phones quickly so we shouldn't have to wait too long.

While rumours about the next Samsung Galaxy A (2018) series have appeared, some clear-cut images and tech specs of what appears to be the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) have appeared. Originally appearing in a video clip, this has since been taken down, but images on GSMArena are still there showing 5.5-inch and 6-inch 18:9 aspect ratio Infinity Design Super AMOLED FullHD+ displays, rear fingerprint sensors (placed below the rear camera thankfully!) and dual front cameras.

It's that time of the year again and if you know Samsung's patterns, they will usually have a new Galaxy J and A model series snooping around the Internet. Thanks to online sources, there's some new stuff about the Galaxy A8 (2018), particular that front cutout revealing a dual front camera and we might be getting two variants of them instead of the usual A5, A7 and A8.
