News & Reviews:   Samsung foldable display

Samsung recently won the top position of the Global TV Market for the 17th consecutive year, but in related news, Sung-Chan Jo, Samsung Display Vice President recently affirmed that they will spread foldable display technology widely. We previously saw several Samsung foldable display tech at CES 2023, suggesting that we could see foldable tablets, laptops and monitors from the company soon.

Samsung recently turned a few heads during the Society for Information Display (SID) Display Week 2022 event in San Jose, United States when it demoed the ‘Flex Note’, a new device that showcased the company’s foldable display technology prowess. Essentially a tablet-laptop hybrid, it looks similar to a regular clamshell laptop but with the whole inside of the device being all-display.

We've all been wishing for some foldable display devices from Samsung for quite some time now, but according to an internal document timeline, we won't see such devices until 2015. Rumours in Korean media indicate that we could finally get some tech specs about the foldable device in that it may be a 9-inch or so tablet when unfolded and a 5-inch or so device when folded. The rumours go on to say that the tablet will be built using plastic which could be the key to making it affordable enough to buy. So far, we've yet to see any foldable display device from anyone, including Samsung and LG who have so far been the only manufacturers to come up with flexible displays. No news yet on how much this foldable device might cost or any specific Malaysia release dates, but you can enjoy the concept videos below:
