We've all been wishing for some foldable display devices from Samsung for quite some time now, but according to an internal document timeline, we won't see such devices until 2015. Rumours in Korean media indicate that we could finally get some tech specs about the foldable device in that it may be a 9-inch or so tablet when unfolded and a 5-inch or so device when folded. The rumours go on to say that the tablet will be built using plastic which could be the key to making it affordable enough to buy. So far, we've yet to see any foldable display device from anyone, including Samsung and LG who have so far been the only manufacturers to come up with flexible displays. No news yet on how much this foldable device might cost or any specific Malaysia release dates, but you can enjoy the concept videos below:

A fairly interesting Samsung device has appeared on China's Tenaa in the form of the SM-T2558. At first glance, it looks like a really large phablet, but it actually has a 7-inch screen. Weighing in at 245g and measuring 191.24 x 99.7 x 8.95mm, the device also has a camera with LED flash and looks to be able to make voice calls. Tech specs and features on the SM-T2558 include a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, microSD support, a 7-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and Android 4.3. It will also support TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA connectivity, so it can go mobile if you need it to. In terms of design, it doesn't look like standard Samsung tablets as it has narrower bezels but it could be a smartphone tablet or tablet with phone capabilities like the ASUS FonePad 7. No news on pricing or Malaysia release dates but we're certain that quite a few people would be interested in it here in Malaysia.

A number of leaks have pointed to the existance of a new range of 10.5-inch tablets coming soon from Samsung. Bearing the model number of SM-T800 the tablet sports tech specs which include a Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB / 32GB / 64GB storage, 10.5-inch AMOLED display with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution, an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and a 7900 mAh battery. The major technological breakthrough here would be the 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 2K resolution, something which has yet to be achieved on any other device. That being said, rumours also indicate that we could be seeing two versions of this 10.5-inch tablet, perhaps using a higher end 1.9GHZ Exynos 5 Octa processor and 3GB of RAM while the other tech specs remain the same. Both would definitely be on the premium side but we've yet to get any detailed pricing or Malaysia release dates just yet.

While Samsung has already come out with quite a few new tablets this CES 2014, it seems that they may still have some more planned for the future. What this future tablet may look like was revealed in a recent US patent which involved a foldable tablet. While it may not be a completely bendable screen device the image shows that the tablet can fold in half and still work. No news when this might become a reality or for how much but there is already a concept video of how it might look like.

According to rumours, Samsung may release 4 new tablets that focus more on the midrange and entry-level markets in 2014. As it is, Samsung have already flooded the premium markets nearly to the point of saturation, leaving the entry-level and midrange markets more or less undeveloped. These rumoured midrange tablets include the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, a 12-inch Galaxy Note tablet and a 13.3-inch convertible with dual-boot operating systems. Still no news yet if or when we'll see some more affordable PLS-LCD based devices just yet or for how much but we expect them to come during the MWC Expo in February 2014. While Samsung have dominated in the smartphone field they haven't been doing very well with tablets and this is something which could change come 2014. No Malaysia release dates or pricing though, but stay tuned and we'll keep you updated.
