So just over the week, the iF Design Awards is back once again honouring tech-manufacturers on their achievements. This time around, Sony is proud to announce that 19 of its products have won the iF Design Awards, including four prestigious Gold Awards. The products that got the gold are the Bravia A1 series, DPT-RP1, Xperia XZ1 and the PlayStation 4 Pro. Below are some of the judges' comments on the four products and the full list awards.

Here's another Chinese New Year promotion announcement, Sony Mobile has announced that starting today until 18 February, Sony fans and consumers can bring home some freebies upon purchasing some selected Sony smartphones. The freebies are varied for selected devices and include cash rebates up to RM300, a RM100 Touch'n Go special Sony edition card rebate, a 1+1 Year Warranty Extension, a transparent case and screen protector. Today, the recently announced Sony Xperia XA1 Plus and Xperia XZ1 have made their appearance in Malaysia for a price tag of RM1499 and RM2999 respectively, and the XZ1 will arrive at the end of September while the XA1 Plus will only come in October. The Xperia XZ1 is the world's first smartphone that has the special 3D Creator app, which allows the user to have a whole new communication experience of 3D scans and share with their friends and family.

Sony officially announced 3 smartphones at IFA 2017 with the Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact priced at $699 (~RM2985) and $599(~RM2558). While the design is the same rounded sides as before the tech specs have been updated with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage, 19MP MotionEye camera for 960fps slomo video, a 2700 mAh battery and Android 8.0. Also on display was the Mediatek Helio P20 powered Xperia XA1 Plus with a 5.5-inch FHD display and 23MP rear camera for $379.99 (~RM1622).

Leakster Roland Quandt has reported a rumour on Twitter that the XZ1 smartphones will cost around 599 GBP for the Xperia XZ1 and 499 GBP for the Compact version. This is the Malaysian equivalent of around RM3300 and RM2700 respectively.

Hands-on photos of the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ1, successor to the Xperia XZ and Xperia XZ Premium have appeared. Coming courtesy of sonyxperiaailesi, the supposed Xperia XZ1 even has a plastic covering denoting the model name so it seems fairly accurate (but still, do take this with a pinch of salt). The overall Xperia XZ1 design looks identical to the curved side Xperia XZ series though with same side curves and metal frame.

The latest upcoming Sony device, the Sony Xperia XZ1 has been spotted on popular benchmarking platform, GeekBench and will be sporting the flagship Snapdragon 835 chipset complemented by 4GB of RAM. The smaller Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact was also listed on a separate sheet, leaking a smaller 4.6-inch 720p display.
