Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching has revealed that 63,652 pieces of fraudulent online content on social media were taken down by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) last year. She added that this was a significant increase compared to 2023.

Previously, we reported how individuals under the age of 16 are now banned from using social media in Australia. Now, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching has revealed that her Ministry is currently reviewing the law, as well as a similar one in France, for implementation in Malaysia.

Communications Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching revealed that contractors that are slow in constructing telecommunications tower projects under the National Digital Network Plan (JENDELA) have been given a deadline of 31 December to finish construction. Ministry of Communications has voiced dissatisfaction with the contractors of the National Digital Network Plan (JENDELA) Phase 1 project in the rural areas of Sabah and Sarawak. Its Deputy Minister, Teo Nie Ching revealed that despite the project’s supposed completion in 2022, it is yet to be finished.
