News & Reviews:   Xiaomi Mi Band 2 Malaysia release date

It's been exactly a month since we last saw Xiaomi posted the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 on their Facebook page, ever since then fans have been wondering when will the new wearable will make its debut in the market as one of the most affordable devices. Back then, it was reported that the Mi Band 2 was suppose to come last month but Xiaomi had some difficulty in keeping up with the demand due to shortages. However, we got some news that the Mi Band 2 will come in October.

Xiaomi recently unveiled their latest and most advanced successor to the Mi Band, the Xiaomi Mi Band 2. Surprisingly, the price still remains affordable at RMB 149 (RM94) with some new features. It packs tech specs of heart-rate and sleep tracker, OLED screen, 20-day battery life, IP67 water resistant, ADI accelerometer and optical heart rate sensor, Anodized 0.05mm ultra-thin button, upgraded pedometer algorithm, Hypoallergenic silicone band and second-gen Bluetooth 4.0 for stable connections.

With the recent Xiaomi Mi Drone announcement yesterday, there's some more good news from Xiaomi and that's something to do with the Mi Band 2 which was showcased two weeks ago with features of what it can do.

When Xiaomi Mi Band 2 was revealed to the public two days ago, we also got confirmation from Xiaomi that the wearable will be delayed due to production issues. However, we now got an update from Xiaomi about the wearable's debut and it might be coming sooner than we expected.

Xiaomi didn't just only showcased the 6.44-inch Mi Max and a brand new MIUI 8 OS, but also a new generation Mi Band, a 10k mAh battery and a Xiaomi iHealth box. There wasn't much information about the products, but here's what we know so far.

In case you haven't heard, Xiaomi CEO Wang has confirmed that both the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 and Xiaomi Smartwatch will make their debut in June. And according to him, the Mi Band 2 will be able to show the user more information without relying much on the smartphone via Bluetooth.

It appears that the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 could be coming soon and may even have a touchscreen display. The previous Mi Band did not have any display and you had to rely on the app installed on your smartphone to find out your fitness tracking details. The render does not appear to be official and it looks a lot like the Huawei TalkBand B1 so do take this one with a grain of salt. As usual of such leaked pics, there are no details on Malaysia release dates or pricing but a release in July would coincide with the release of the original Mi Band, which was released in July 2014. Since the Mi Band did come in to Malaysia at RM59, we expect Xiaomi to maintain the status quo and price the Mi Band 2 at RM99.
