Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Aziz has revealed that all 6 local telcos have reached a consensus on the access agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) to lease 5G services. The telco companies are Telekom Malaysia (TM), YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (YES), Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, Celcom Axiata Bhd, Maxis Bhd and U Mobile Sdn Bhd.

Following some 2 years of negotiations, 4 mobile network operators (MNOs) have executed share subscription agreements (SSAs) for a total of 65 per cent equity stake in Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB). The four MNOs are YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (YES), Telekom Malaysia (TM), Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) and Celcom Axiata Bhd (Celcom).

Previously, we reported that all six telcos in Malaysia have agreed to the Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) 5G service agreement prior to its deadline of 30 June 2022. Now, it looks like our country can finally move forward and have 5G connectivity accessible to the masses as the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) said that the 5G service will rollout by September 2022 at the latest.
