Apple Japan has been charged JPY13 billion or ~RM432 million in additional taxes by the Japanese government for bulk sales of iPhones and other Apple devices to foreign tourists in the country. This is after these bulk purchases were incorrectly exempted from the nation’s consumption tax.

Apple has tweaked how AirDrop functions on the iPhone, whereby users now only have the option to toggle AirDrop sharing with ‘Everyone’ for 10 minutes. Previously, the toggle allows you to always keep AirDrop on, thus allowing anyone nearby to share files with you.

Brazil and Apple haven’t been getting along recently as the country’s regulators are not too pleased with the latter’s decision to not include power adapters with the iPhone. After being fined ~RM89 million, Apple still failed to comply with Brazil’s requirement and now, the nation’s Federal District-based consumer protection regulator has seized iPhones from retail stores in the country.

Recently, rumours have been circulating recently that Apple is looking to replace the iPhone 15 Pro’s physical buttons with touch-sensitive surfaces. Now, we may have more concrete details of this taking place, as Apple supplier Cirrus Logic revealed the matter in its investor note last week.

Previously, we reported on Apple confirming that it will comply with the European Union’s (EU) new law for a unified USB-C charging port. Now, it looks like the EU is not done just yet and may force Apple to do more changes on its mobile devices, including allowing for third-party app stores, app sideloading and iMessage interoperability with non-Apple devices.

Recently, the European Union (EU) passed a law which makes it mandatory for manufacturers to use USB-C port for the charging of their devices. Of course, this affects Apple the most as its iPhone lineup still uses Lightning and the tech giant has come out and said that it will comply with the new regulation.

While other manufacturers already launched several generations of foldable smartphones in the market, it looks like Apple will not follow suit but instead release a foldable tablet first. In fact, according to analyst firm CCS Insight, Apple may be launching a foldable iPad in 2024.

A Brazilian court has fined Apple BRL100 million or ~RM89 million in “social damages” for its continued practice of selling iPhones without a charger in the country. The tech giant was slapped with the fine by a Sao Paulo state court, which stressed that Apple must offer battery chargers with iPhones that are sold in Brazil.

Love it or hate it, the Dynamic Island feature on the iPhone 14 Pro series has been the talk of the tech world recently. However, the current implementation of the interactive island over the device’s pill-shaped display cutout may soon change in iOS 16.1 as Apple recently added a grey border around the Dynamic Island in the latest version of the iOS beta.

It seems that the iPhone 14 series is not as popular as Apple has hoped for it to be, whereby it is allegedly lower than the tech giant’s anticipated demand projection. So much so, that Apple has now reportedly abandoned its plans to increase production levels of its new flagship smartphone series.
