Just yesterday, we reported that some local telcos including U Mobile, Celcom and Maxis were fined by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for having fake prepaid SIM card registration. In responding to the matter, Celcom has reached out to us with an official statement below.

Today, we saw an interesting tweet from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) about fake prepaid SIM card registration. Apparently, these fake prepaid SIM cards came from U Mobile, Celcom, Tune Talk, Maxis, YTL Communications and Tone Plus without verifying user information.

Update: According to Celcom, it seems that the network servers are back to normal. They said the users will have to restart their devices so that the signal can be refreshed. If your Celcom, Tune Talk and Xpax network is still not working, kindly pm them for assistance.
If you are a Celcom user and is experiencing a bad signal connection now, you're not alone. Celcom have just confirmed that their network is experiencing some server issues. Interestingly, Yoodo is not affected by this even though they are riding on Celcom's network but those who are using Tune Talk and Xpax are also affected.

Starting 1 April 2020, Malaysian telcos began to provide users with 1GB of data daily. Although that free data could be used for anything at the time, it only applied from 8 AM to 6 PM each day. Now, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced that the free 1GB will apply for the entire day.

Within a week, Maxis came under fire by the Internet for not being transparent in their latest Hotlink prepaid offering. Now it's Celcom's turn and they quietly released their own Unlimited Prepaid plans. According to their website, there are 2 plans which are the Unlimited 7 days and Unlimited 30 days for RM12 and RM35 respectively, as well as the new Ultra Hour Pass Unlimited Internet Pass.
