Previously, we wrote about how Celcom and Digi have finally removed the 5G Booster charging fee on their platforms. However, that didn't really turn out to be the case for lower-tier plans such as Digi 40 and Xpax Postpaid 60. So over the weekend, CelcomDigi has silently removed the 5G fee on those plans. 

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has asked telco service providers to take immediate action to improve their subpar network service quality in Melaka. This is after a Cellular Service Quality Test (voice calls) conducted on a river cruise along Sungai Melaka in Banda Hilir yielded many dropped call problems.

With many of you claiming that the network has gotten worse after the merger, it seems that the matter has caught the attention of the Communications Ministry as it has released a statement on the issue.

As promised, the Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil just officially announced the Pelan Pakej P-Hailing RAHMAH ceremony today. At the event, he mentioned that all p-hailing platform users can subscribe to the package starting today until 23 April 2023 and enjoy mobile internet services as low as RM33 per month.

In 2022, Celcom and Digi began talks to merge the two companies, that would eventually become CelcomDigi. Hoping to utilize the best of both telcos, initial signs indicated that there was some improvement but lately, quite a few CelcomDigi users from our Facebook page have said that it has become worse since their merger. On paper, pulling all the resources from both sides should make the mobile internet experience better but it became the opposite instead. 

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has issued a warning to telco companies in Malaysia to not charge customers extra for 5G access. He added that the government would consider taking action against them should this happen.

After several delays, the Share Subscription Agreement (SSA) to hold equities in Digital National Berhad (DNB) has finally been signed by the 5 Malaysian mobile network operators (MNOs). As reported by Bernama, the SSA was signed today.

Today, CelcomDigi Berhad introduced its new CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G plans after merging together for over a year. Starting from 1 December 2023, the new range of all-in postpaid plans with 5G and 4G Internet access come complete with additional attractive extra benefits starting at RM80 per month. 

Previously, we reported on the Ministry of Communications and Digital’s (KKD) announcement that the DNB 5G share subscription agreement (SSA) with 5 telco companies would finally be signed last week. However, this never materialised and KKD Minister Fahmi Fadzil has clarified that there are still hiccups to be rectified.
