It wasn't that long ago that we reported there were many false Crash Detection alarms. In just Minnesota, USA alone in 2022, there are already 700 false alarms. Meanwhile, several Japanese emergency service units got a total of 919 false calls within a month.

On paper, the iPhone 14 series Crash Detection feature is a good one that can alert nearby authorities if you happened to be in an accident. However, there has been lots of news of triggering false alarms, particularly those who went on a rollercoaster, ice skating and other fast-paced activities.

Previously, we reported that the new Crash Detection feature on the iPhone 14 series is mistaking roller coaster rides for car accidents, prompting Apple to say that “there’s no silver bullet” for the feature. Now, with the release of iOS 16.2 beta, Apple is letting users report to the company when Emergency SOS is unintentionally triggered on iPhones.

One of the new features found on the iPhone 14 series is crash detection, whereby the smartphone will automatically call emergency services should it detect you being in a car accident. However, it looks like Apple may need to iron out the feature a bit more as many users are reporting that their iPhone 14 series are triggering crash detection while on a roller coaster ride.

Apple added a new crash detection feature to the iPhone 14 series which will automatically call emergency services if the owner doesn’t respond after it detects a car crash had happened. A real-life example of the feature in action happened yesterday in Nebraska, United States after a passenger’s iPhone 14 series smartphone automatically alerted responders of a car crash that its owner was in. Tragically, all 6 involved in the accident were killed after the car they were in hit a tree.
