The rise in usage of video conferencing software has a great side effect for users overall. As more people use these services, the providers have a greater obligation to improve them. Google Meet is certainly one service that has been improving rapidly in recent weeks and can now be accessed via Gmail.

Video meeting has become the norm for many, with people now working from home due to restrictions in many countries. Of course, the increase in use means more people know what they want out of these apps and noise cancellation is one of them. Back in April, Google announced that noise cancellation would be coming to Google Meet and that update is just around the corner.

As the pandemic is still not coming to an end yet, the world is still widely depending on video-calling tools to communicate with each other. No matter if it’s a business conference, a lecture, or simply just a chit-chat session with friends and families that are far away, a video-calling platform will make everything become easier at this challenging time. By recognizing the current needs of their customers, Google has announced that Google Meet will be free for everyone sooner or later.

Google recently weighed in online via Mark Risher, Senior Director for Account Security, Identity, and Abuse about the current online security COVID-19 situation. On Google’s side, Google Meet, GMail and Google Play Protect for example have mostly built-in automatic protections but there are a number of checkup tools to see if you’re safe or not and the advice on what to do about it. On our part, we’ve seen a marked increase in such scams.

As more people turn to video conferencing to hold meetings, companies are doing more to improve or highlight their versions of such software. Google has also been working on its video conferencing software, which has recently been renamed to Google Meet. Moreover, Google has made it so you can now access Google Meet via Gmail.

While Zoom is trying to fix up their problems, Google decided to change up their Hangouts Meet name to another for no apparent "reason". In case you didn't know Google Hangouts Meet has been around for many years and it's similar to Zoom. So from now on, it will be known as Google Meet.
